LITTLE PACKAGES OF LIFE: GOD AND BUSINESS

As I sit at my desk munching on my lunch, my mind wonders to what it would be like to work for a company that combined their love for the Lord and their business. Please don’t misunderstand me, I am most thankful for my job and the opportunities I have had in my 30 year career. But, what if we started each day with a devotion, there were no foul language used, people worked together to make things happen, security in the work place came back and everyone enjoyed what they were doing!
Most of us have our home life, our work life, and our church life, all in separate little packages.
Even though I think we try, we just can’t turn off our minds and how we participate in each of these little packages and still be the person God wants us to be. When we arrive at the office, do we become another person? Do we put up that wall of defense? Do we forget about God? Do we take the time throughout the day to just “Thank God”? At home, do we let the wall down and let the kindness and love show through or do we take our work stresses out on others? Is our church package everything we need it to be to help us become who God wants us to be?
We are who God has created us to be, and that has to shine in everything we do. But how in the business world do we do that? How do we let our love for God shine above every situation we are faced with throughout the day?
Colossians 3: 23-25 (NKJV) says, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.  But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.”
I’m not working just for the company.  I’m working for the Lord. Everything I do in my life has to be for the Lord! Whatever I do, I must do it with my whole heart.
Easy to say, but not so easy to do!
In most offices, complaining becomes infectious?  Someone starts complaining about their job, their work load, their pay, and everyone joins in.  Then it becomes a pity party and everyone ends up with a bad attitude.
I believe the reverse can also be true.  People who are passionate about their job and committed to doing the very best they can, carry the power of enthusiasm and can make a difference in the workplace. This attitude also can become infectious, spread to those around them and have a positive effect on situations.
It’s all about caring for something other than yourself!
If you aren’t doing this in your everyday life, then you need to seek God and ask Him to lead you toward your purpose and your goal. Do you pray for wisdom? I do and have included that in my prayers for years. Remember Solomon, he had the opportunity to ask God for anything he wished, and what did he ask for? Wisdom, understanding, and a hearing heart! God was so pleased He blessed Solomon with honor and wealth!
The hardest part is to be open to whatever God may reveal to you, keep your eyes on Him and keep focused. Let God lead the way in your life everyday, not just when it is convenient for you!
Blessings,
Kelly
