2012 ONE WORD RESOLUTION

Today is New Years Day and I love the fact that it is a great time to wipe the slate clean and start the New Year with one word, one goal, and one focus. I have found that making a long list of resolutions rarely became reality, and then I felt like a failure when I didn’t accomplish any of them!
My “one word” for 2011 was GIVE and I had no clue how that one word focus would change my life, everyday of my life! The exercise of trying to determine my one word for 2012, has taken a lot of prayer, thought and consideration. I have given it all I have, spiritually, physically and emotionally, praying and asking God, “What is your will for my one-word resolution this year?”
One word, one wish, one dream, one resolution for 2012.
Then out of the clear blue sky, as they say, it happened. The word – SHINE!

There are so many ways I can serve the Lord by focusing on the word – SHINE!
1. To give forth or glow with light; shed or cast light.
2. To be bright with reflected light; glisten; sparkle.
3. (Of light) to appear brightly or strongly.
4. To be or appear unusually animated or bright, as the eyes or face.
5. To emit light.
6. To reflect light; glint or glisten.
7. To distinguish oneself in an activity or a field; excel.
8. To be immediately apparent.
9. To appear with brightness or clearness, as feelings.

I know that my “One Word” will reflect in all aspects of my life, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. It will show up in my home life as well as my career.
I know this because last year when God gave me the word “GIVE”, He used that word to impact my life, everyday of my life.
The word never left my mind or my prayers and opportunities were everywhere for me to fulfill my commitment.
In 2012, my  word "SHINE" will help me grow more intimate with God.  He will teach me and show me what to do in every area of my life in order to SHINE for our Lord.
If you are wondering how to come up with a one word resolution, begin by preparing your heart through prayer and devotion time. Read scriptures. Think about which fruit of the Spirit God might want you to live out?
Ask God for the word and then live out your word.
It is not easy and you have to make it a priority in your life.  It is for those who want to live life to its fullest.
My goal for 2012 is not about me, but to illuminate Christ.
Through Him let my light shine to the world; to give off a light that leads other to Jesus.
We as Christians  are to shine His love, grace, power, and glory.  I want every moment of 2012 to be like that match that shines, illuminating the awesomeness of Jesus!

Here’s to joy, and here’s to a New Year and a God who promises “to make all things new” (Rev 21:5).
Blessings,
Kelly
